Five Powerful Reasons Why Owning A Pet Could Make You Live Longer

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

You may have heard that pets have been scientifically proven to increase your chances of living to a ripe old age. Well the rumour is true, but how exactly is it possible you may be wondering.

Well, it is said that pets are able to penetrate our outer exterior and really connect with us on a deep level where humans are unable. When you look at the facts closely it is hard to argue with.

The first reason why owning a pet could make you live longer, is that they offer you unconditional love without you ever having to ask for it. In fact, this unconditional love is available to you at any given moment, twenty-four hours a day. Next time you are with your pet, take notice of its expressions and you will see that it is full of nothing but love for you.

The second reason is that you can be yourself around your pets. You do not need to put up facades or pretend to be someone that you are not. No matter what you do, you will always have the approval of your pets. Having the freedom to be yourself eliminates the stress that you may be subjecting yourself on a daily basis while out in the real world.

The third reason is that pets offer companionship. You can come home from work to an empty house and that is exactly how it will feel ? empty. But with a pet there to greet you, you have a friend by your side as you kick off your shoes and settle in for a quiet night together.

The fourth reason is that they stimulate you physically, especially dogs. You know that if you don?t take them for a walk, then chances are they go without. So you get out in the fresh air, breath deeply and move those joints and muscles as you enjoy the scenery together. There is nothing like a brisk thirty minute walk to wake up your body.

And lastly they also give you the opportunity to share your love and affection. A pet demands this kind of attention and this helps you to connect with your own emotions on many levels. Doesn?t it just feel wonderful to show a pet how much you love them, and see the heartfelt appreciation in their eyes?

Yes, pets are wonderful for you on a mental, physical and emotional level. Taking this into consideration, if you don?t own a pet yet and you are keen to live as long as you can, you might want consider getting one real soon.

A good friend who breeds Bichon Frise’s told me it really works; I had my doubts, but would a really good friend lie? Without her reference, I would never have spent this much money to try a product. I made the decision I was willing to give it to my white poodle EVERY DAY, for three months, then less… as they say that is that is required for it to work.
I saw results in about a week. My poodle has been on the medication for a month and a half, and has had no red stain around her eyes for five weeks.
I am delighted!!! I give my 9.75lb. poodle 3/4tsp. a day. I hide the powder in cottage cheese, yogurt, or ground beef and gravy, as it is not something she really wants to eat; sprinkling it on her dry food would not work. I am back online to order some for my friend who was a Maltese with red stains around her eyes and mouth. I am confident it will work for her, and for your dog too if you will use it every day, as suggested. If you are tired of those red stains, and nothing else has worked - THIS IS IT; TRY IT AND YOU WILL BE PLEASED.

The OneMinute Horse Training Manager

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

If your life is so busy you literally only have a minute or two a day to spend with your horse, then here are 5 smart training tips you can use to keep your horse tuned up when you have just minutes a day.

Smart Tip #1: Practice Backing Up

Suppose you just fed your horse some hay and he’s eating. Assuming you have enough room to get beside him, put your finger into his chest and get him to back up. Getting a horse to back up is a basic and essential lesson horses should know. Plus, when you get a horse to move in a direction you want him to move, you earn respect from him.

Smart Tip #2: Practice Getting His Head Down

Just before you feed your horse approach him. When you get to him pet him a couple times. Then put your thumb and first finger on his poll and push down. Do not increase the pressure of the push. Instead, on a scale of one to ten, push at a one. Then say head down. If he doesn’t drop his head increase the pressure to a two. Then say head down. Repeat the process increasing the pressure until his head drops.

When his head drops, reward him with a petting above the eyes on the forehead.

Over time, work on getting him to drop his head down where you can easily put on a halter.

Smart Tip #3: Quick Lunge

If you have a minute or two, before you feed your horse slip on a halter with a lead rope. Lunge your horse left and right a few times and get him to back up and come forward. You can accomplish this in just about two minutes.

Smart Tip #4: Pick Up The Feet

Before feeding your horse, go pick up his feet. You should start with the front feet. Remember to reward each time he does what you ask. Then go to the back feet. If your horse is sensitive about picking up his feet you can make amazing breakthroughs over time by doing this in just minutes a day.

Smart Tip #5: Brush Your Horse

Before feeding, approach your horse with a halter and brush in hand. Put on the halter then brush him. You do this because you want him to associate the halter with pleasure and he’ll come to you almost every time. Thus, whenever you want to ride or work with him, and you approach with a halter, he’s more willing to let you catch him.

Maintaining Your Fish Bowls

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

Maintaining your fish bowl can be difficult sometimes. However, your fish bowl should be kept as hygienic as possible. Doing so should help prevent any health care problems for your fish. When you are cleaning your fish bowl, do it as quickly as possible, because it is dangerous for your fish to be out of its fish bowl. Only clean your fish bowl with a cleaner that is safe for your fish.

Also, be sure to let the water return to whatever temperature is right for your fish before you put your fish back in its fish bowl. Make sure that any special equipment that your fish bowl has is working properly before you put it back in the fish bowl.

If you maintain your fish bowl properly, you will be able to fully enjoy your pet fish.

Fish bowls are the single most important factor in your fishes happiness and health. No other decision you make as a fish owner will be as important as what fish bowl you get for your fish.

Therefore, it is critical to choose the fish bowl that is right for your fish. Consider what type of fish you have when you buy a fish bowl. Some types of fishes require larger fish bowls than others. Also take into consideration any special needs that your fish might have. For example, some fish bowls are built for only fresh water fish. Others are built to provide warmth for your fish.

If you are unsure of what kind of fish bowl to buy, consult your veterinarian. Also be aware that a fish bowl that is suitable for one fish may be too crowed for more than one fish.

Introduction To House Training

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

The information in this article is based on the successful crate training method. Crate training is not cruel. I repeat: Crate training is not cruel. If used correctly, it uses the dog’s natural den instinct to your own advantage by encouraging the dog not to pee or poop where it sleeps. Dogs are naturally clean animals and will avoid going to the bathroom where they sleep. But you need to keep the following points in mind to be successful.

Establish A Regular Eating Routine

As I’m fond of saying, ‘what goes in must come out’. To help you figure out the best times to get your dog to go to the bathroom it’s important to feed your dog at the same times every day. This is the ideal time to practice your house training lessons. For your dog’s comfort it’s also a good idea to feed your dog in the same place every day, a place that they will identify as their eating spot. With your puppy, there’s a very short time between eating and eliminating. Figure around 15 - 20 minutes. When feeding your dog, give her 15-20 minutes and then pick up the uneaten portion (if any). This will also teach your dog to eat when fed. Again, these rules can be relaxed once your dog is house trained but for now it’s key to establish a routine.

Until your dog is house trained, also avoid treats and in-between meal snacks. The whole idea is to feed your dog, observe them constantly for the 15 -20 minutes after they eat and then bring them to the place where you want them to do their business. Do it like clockwork and you’ll be putting your puppy in a position to succeed. This is all about setting expectations and teaching your eager learner to do what you want. And when they do, praise them wildly. Make it seem like that little pee or poop that they did is the greatest and most magnificent thing you’ve ever seen in your entire life. Your friends and neighbors may think you’re crazy, but I can’t stress enough the power of praise. It’s what your puppy craves. Give it to her in generous amounts.

How Old Should Your Puppy Be?

How old should your puppy be before you begin house training? Start as early as you can but don’t expect results until the pup is about 14 weeks old. Before 14 weeks your pup cannot physically hold it in. Then why start early you may ask? Well, even though your pup may not be physically able to hold it in, she’ll at least begin learning what’s expected of her. Consider any training before 14 weeks to be ‘pre-school’. When her physical abilities catch up with what you taught her, it will make it that much easier to put the lessons into practice.

Size Matters

If you’re considering crate training your dog as a means of house training, keep in mind that the size of crate you choose is very important. A good rule of thumb about size is: the crate should only be big enough for the dog to comfortably stand up and turn around in. You don’t want the crate so big that the dog will mess at one end and sleep at the other. For large-sized breeds that will continue to grow substantially, you may need to buy a larger size later on if you intend for your dog to continue using the crate after it is house trained. And the most important rule of all: NEVER, under any circumstances, use the crate as a form of punishment. The crate should be a place where your dog wants to go, to sleep and get away from the bustle and activity in your home. You never want them to associate it with being punished.

I had used another Flea Treatment for many years and it worked great until the last few years. I asked a dog sitter I had if they could recommend something else as what I was using didn’t seem to work any more.
Advantage solved my problem. It works great.

This medicine is good for protection against fleas, but it doesn’t have tic medicine. There are thousands of species of tics out there - it is not a good idea to leave your animal unprotected. There are many types of tics out there that will kill your family pet.

I highly recommend Advantage. We had always used Advantage, but we bought Frontline b/c that’s all the vet had at that time. Unfortunately, we could tell the difference very soon afterward. Our dog was constantly scratching, and we would see fleas crawling over her after every time we took her out, something we never saw while she was on Advantage. We bought the Advantage (even though we didn’t finish the Frontline), and within a few days, the fleas disappeared, and haven’t returned. We won’t buy anything else.

I actually purchased this product from Amazon after my veterinarian’s office stopped selling Advantage and instead sells K9 Advantix now. Because I thought perhaps Advantage had changed the look of the box, I tried the K9 Advantix on my pug for about 3 months (I also used the one for cats on my cat for 2 months). After all of that time using the K9, my husband was sitting on the couch and a flea jumped on him. We have NEVER had fleas in our house, NEVER! We had always used Advantage on our animals and by this time I had realized it was definately a different product. The K9 Advantix was returned to the vet, and I purchased the Advantage from Amazon. I have not seen a flea, and the animals stopped itching and scratching since applying the Advantage. The only thing, the Advantage doesn’t repell other pesky insects. So, if you have ticks in your yard (which thank goodness we don’t) then your dog will get ticks.

Item was received in a timely manner, packaged well and received in perfect condition.

Product was the same as I receive from the Vet at a considerably lower cost.

I will continue to order as long as the Vet recommends this product.

At Last! Cat Litter Boxes Don’t Have To Be Evil

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

There is nothing worse for cat or cat owner than a smelly litter box.

For many people, the litter box is the worst of part of owning a cat. Not only is it something people dread to clean but it is also dusty and dirty. And, those who have to clean it can find themselves more susceptible to cat diseases that are present there. Sure, it?s a bad job but it doesn?t have to be too hard either.

There are many new litter boxes being designed to make the job, well, easier. One of them is the hooded litter box. These give the privacy to cats who are more sensitive and they also keep dust down considerably. They are idea of a single cat owner as long as they are cleaned regularly. Those who do not want to handle the litter can use removable liners for these boxes. They can lift out the whole liner and throw it out. All you need to do is put in a new liner and add the fresh litter to it.

Self Cleaning Boxes

Another option is the self cleaning box. These are idea for families that have many cats. Or they can be a good choice for anyone who doesn?t want to have to deal with it. A rake removes the soiled litter into a removable receptacle which leaves the box clean. All you need to do is to discard the contents of the receptacle right into the trash.

To teach your kitten to use the litter box, all you need to do is to position it in the right place and keep it very clean. The litter box should never be located next to wear the cat sleeps or near where his food is.

Once in the right place, you?ll need to tell him what the box is used for. To do this, place the cat in the box and rake your fingers through the litter. The cat may decide to start using the box right away. When he does, praise him greatly. If he just wants out, play with him a few minutes and then put him back in. Repeat this several times but don?t push it. You don?t want to make him frustrated.

When to use the Box?

About ten to fifteen minutes after your cat eats, put him back into the litter box. When he uses it, praise him for doing so. When he is napping, watch him so that you can take him to the litter box as he wakes up.

Remember that cats respond better to praise than to scolding. If he becomes angry or frustrated, you will not accomplish anything. Place the box in the spot where he most frequently has accidents and encourage him to use it.

A cat may stop using his litter box if you don?t keep it clean. Most cats will continue to use the litter box once he has done so several times, but you need to keep it clean. Also, a dirty litter box can lead to cat health problems so make sure to keep it clean.

These are some quick and easy tips to keeping your cat’s litter box clean. If you use them your cat will be your best friend.
